AHR #1960
Bred by W. K. Kellogg Institute, Pomona, California. Sire of two hundred seventy-seven registered purebred Arabian foals and six registered part-Arabs. Excerpts from Arabian Horse World July 1988 Heritage Horse Article: Gladys Brown Edwards gave him his name when he was foaled, which means - father of chestnuts. She wrote of Abu Farwa as a stallion of magnificent presence. He was trained by Charles Smith as a three-gaited horse for the famous Kellogg Sunday shows. Now, nearly 60 years after his foaling, the name Abu Farwa in a pedigree still implies classic Arabian beauty, style, and a singular quality of motion, no matter what the discipline - from halter to English pleasure to cutting to western pleasure to the racetrack. Owners: 5-22-1940/7-27-1972 Charles and Inez Doner - Elsinore, California. In 1964 when Abu Farwa was 24, he and Charlie handily walked away with the blue in a large and impressive aged stallion class (14 and over) in Southern California. Died July 27, 1972.
