He is Non characteristic, EEaa (He is homozygous black/ no Bay (Agouti) ). He has one copy of the cream gene. So, 50% of the time he will pass cream, which makes a chestnut a palomino, a bay a buckskin, and a black a smoky black. The other 50% of the time he passes just plain black.
Perfect to breed to homozygous Appaloosa mares (LP/LP, Pattern1/pattern1, known as a few spot or snow cap) to produce spots every time. He carries a copy of pattern despite being Non Characteristic.
UC Davis confirmed DNA testing. This means he will pass a spotted pattern 50% of the time despite being non characteristic, and he comes from two LOUDLY patterned Appaloosas:) owned by Maury Lawson, Appaloosa Hillside Farm, MA
