AMHA #30
Dark chestnut, 14.2, 1000 lbs. Foaled 6/13/1824, Tunbridge, VT. Died 10/30/1850 in Walpole, NH. Said to have sired over 1300 foals (41 registered Morgan offspring). Style and motion much admired and was a favorite parade horse. American Stallion Register, Vol. II, pp. 573-4. Fred Weir, Elisha De Wolf Jr., and Ambrose Arnold advertised him in 1845, as dam and granddam by Justin Morgan in Albany Cultivator, page 286, 1846. Linsley gave a wrong breeding, his source is not given. *Note the Albany Cultivator ad 1846 p 286 reference is given by Fred Wier, and actually lists Gifford as 7/16 Morgan (less than half which would by 8/16) and that not his dam, but the sire of his dam was by Justin Morgan, and not his granddam but his great-granddam.
