ASB #902825S; Iron-gray; In 1819 Richard B. Jones, the American Consul in Tripoli, acquired a stallion named Grand Bashaw, rising 4 years old. He was sired by the Barb stallion Khasnadger, of whose patronage is unknown.
Jones imported Grand Bashaw to America and stood him at stud near Philadelphia. He sired the colt Young Bashaw, who in turn sired Andrew Jackson, which became a noted Trotter. Died at Newtown, Pa., 1845; Memoirs of the Pennsylvania Agricultural Society, 1824, p.310/311; - Bruce's ASB, 1873 - revised 1884 - Vol.1 (A-L), p.144 other story: born 1816 and was bought by Joseph C.
