TRAMMELS RUSTY dun. M, QUARTER HORSE, 1928
| Color: dun
unreg
From the book Spotted Pride: Trammel`s Rusty was foaled about 1928. Purportedly bred by the Trammel family of Sweetwater, Texas, she was sired by Firecracker and out of Smokey by Old Streak. Trammel`s Rusty, then, was an exceptionally well-bred mare. Owned for most of her life by Ned Smith, she was used extensively by him as a match-racing horse. A dark, or smutty dun in color, Rusty ran throughout the Southwest during the mid to late 1930s. Because of her tremendous worth as a breadwinner, she was not bred until she was 18. In 1953, at the age of 25, Rusty produced Navajo Britches. She was killed by lightning in 1955, she was 27 years old.
