YELLOW LOU cham. M, QUARTER HORSE, 1939
| Color: cham
#0006681
NQHBA #667 Champagne, reg. as dun in AQHA & as yellow in NQHBA This mare is source of Champagne gene in at least 1 confirmed champagne line. Breeder: Tom L. Burnett Est., Ft. Worth, TX Owner: Austin Moore, Webb City, OK Last recorded owner: Bud Warren, Perry, OK In her studbook entry in NQHBA, her dam is given as Burnett Mare. In AQHA her dam is given as Morgan Mare. (It should be noted that this does not necessarily imply a purebred Morgan, just a horse with some Morgan blood.) The Morgan mare may have been DEURA (AMHA #4361) who was owned by Burnett Ranches, at the time Yellow Lou was foaled. However she is called chestnut and she would have to be Champagne. The Champagne gene has never been found in Morgans. Yellow Lou produced 14 registered foals; 3 Race ROMs and one Open Perf. ROM.
