| Johnie was a thoroughbred army remount stallion the ONO ranch aquired in the 1930\\\'s. He sired may of the mares in the early days of ONO ranches quarter horse program. Many of the mares were used a relay race horses a popular sport in the 1930s and 1940s. It is the same as the Indian Relay Races seen at many rodeos today. Johnie was immortalized in a bronze statue entitled mustang fury by artist Don Marquis. The statue is of the fight Johni had with another range stallion about 1935 at the ONO ranch
