OLLE C, GOTLAND PONY, 1880
| Color: blk Height: dun 121 cm
Olle 2. Died 1915. Olle\\\\\\\'s father was a Syrian stallion from Aleppo (possibly a Caspian horse) owned by the Berlin Zoo; his mother was an unnamed Gotland mare from the very inbred Liffride-herd. Olle was reputedly a fantastic trotter and carriage horse, small but quick and tireless. It was Olle who introduced the dilution gene (which produces cream colours) in the Gotlandsruss: he was registered as black but must have been grulla (black dun, in Swedish: gulsvart). He was also most likely responsible for bringing the congenital cerebellar ataxia (in Swedish: cerebellär abiotrofi, kallas även slinger; ärftlig underutveckling av lillhjärnan) to the breed.
