Presented to Mr. Charles Rhind by the Sultan, in 1830, and brought from Constantinople to New York. Mr. Rhind imported four Arabian stallions, and they were sold at auction in May, 1831. Zilcaadi was described as `of the same tribe as Kochlani` (who was listed as `of the tribe on the borders of Syria`) and was purchased by Josias S. Johnston, U. S. Senator from Louisiana. (American Turf Register, vol.II, p.465) Zilcaadi was apparently at stud in Louisiana, where his portrait was painted, standing on the bank of the Mississippi river (American Turf Register, vol.IV, p.105).
