Dark dappled bay, star, lh foot white, heavy mane & tail. Foaled 1848, Leesburgh, KY. Bred by George Coons. Died 1863, Pulaski, TN, worn out by Federal troops, who captured him, worked him down, & turned him out on the Pulaski common, where he died. Fastest pacer of his day in Tennessee. Got fast, muscular, long-lived, active, fine saddle horses. TWH studbook says he was by Canadian Tom Hal, meaning the original Tom Hal, but one of Tom Hal`s owners says no, he was by one of Tom Hal`s sons. There was more than one Kittrell's Tom Hal, apparently.
