Founder of the Hal family. Purchased in Philadelphia about 1824 and identified as Canadian. He was advertised two times in KY as from Maryland and by General Ridgley`s Tom. where he was known as: Mason`s, Boswell`s, West`s, and Shropshire`s Hal. Registered Saddlebred although he had some influence on other breeds such as the Tennessee Walking Horse. Not the same horse as the Morgan Tom Hal (MHR #31).
