WHIRLAWAY H, THOROUGHBRED, 1938 Color: ch 60-32-15-9 1941 Triple Crown winner. Horse of the Year, 1938,1941 and 1942. Champion 3-year-old colt, 1941. Champion handicap horse, 1942. Died in France on April 6, 1953, just ten minutes after being bred to a mare, in France. His remains were brought pack to America and placed in the Calumet graveyard. Famed for his penchant for drifting out in the stretch, and for his long tail (his nickname was Mr. Longtail.) Elected to the National Museum of Racing Hall of Fame in 1959.
