T-1986
General Custer stallion
Red roan, spotted blanket
(Tomichi {Hubbard's Tomichi?} x Sally Calico F-4108)
Foaled 1957
Bred by Fernie Hubbard, Clyde Park, Montana
Note: First World Champion, owned by Charlie W. Peterson, ridden by Lowell Ferrel.General Custer . The dam of this stallion was Sally Calico , who went back to Rex on several occasions . General Custer was beautifully colored and had a good character. Charlie Peterson met him, saw that he was a very superior horse and bought him. He gave him to Lowell Ferrell, who trained him, and took him to the first World Appaloosa Performance Playoff in Sedalia, Missouri. General Custer showed the canter, stretch and athletic build needed to stay grounded. He showed the will, gentleness and calm character that we appreciate in the Appaloosas. Competing in a race agitated him no more than trotting about with loose reins in the pleasure class. Fern Hubbard - Keeper of the Rex lineage for 35 years
