A noted sire of both graded stallions and dressage horses that stood at stud in the USA for several years.
The Grand Prix dressage stallion Grundstein I was a top dressage sire in Germany producing 15 graded stallion sons, and over 400 registered competition horses before being exported to the USA where he also became a great influence in competition horse breeding. He was an outstanding example of a dual-purpose stallion and his progeny have won nearly £500,000 to date in Germany alone, giving him a superb BLUP of 153 and a ranking of 3rd in the 755 stallions in his age group at stud in Germany. His best known offspring apart from Giorgione include the international dressage horses Gemanie and Grand Giraud, the international showjumpers Argeilth Gento, Galan and Gambe, and the graded stallions Grundsee {international showjumper} and Gervantus .
