Rene Dan Jet (1990-2017)
Four-time AQHA World Champion Rene Dan Jet passed away on September 30, 2017 of natural causes. A two-time National Pole Bending Association Hall of Fame inductee, Rene excelled in the arena as well as in the breeding shed. Rene’s sons, daughters, and daughters and grandsons have dominated the pole bending and barrel racing pen at the AQHA World Championship, the Ohio All American Congress and the National Pole Bending Association World Championship for almost two decades.
Rene Dan Jet was trained and shown by Brad Wagner of West Harrison IN. Brad showed Rene to an AQHA Junior Barrel Racing World Championship at 3, an AQHA Senior Pole Bending World Championship at 5, and went on to win AQHA Amateur Pole Bending and Amateur Barrel Racing World Championships at age 6. Rene earned an additional 3 Reserve World Championships and over 700 AQHA points in AQHA competition. Rene won the Congress Pole Bending Sweepstakes in 1996 when Brad and Rene won all three rounds of the Sweepstakes, the amateur pole bending and the senior pole bending with 19 second times for every run. Retired from competition in 2000, Rene went on to sire 339 AQHA registered foals.
