Glendale`s sire is the famous Nimmerdor, rated #2 in the jumping index, and his dam is keur preferent Silja, a descendant of the influential Trakehner Marco Polo. His pedigree includes Polaris, who even though he did not live a long time produced a number of well known competition horses including Palermo of the 1972 Olympics. Polaris produced the mare Vodea, the preferent dam of the famous stallion Notaris. He also produced the famous jumoer Solaris who helped the dutch team win the gold medal in the 1977 European championships.
Glendale was marked as a stallion with considerable talent as a show jumper. He shows his great capacity and superb technique as a true son of Nimmerdor. His walk is good, his trot is roomy with excellent bearing and his canter is called almost perfect. He is a friendly, willing stallion with a lot of presence; always an imposing stallion, standing or moving. In the 1992/93 National Stallion Competition, Glendale achieved a magnificent second place in the dressage category. His foals are described as having beautiful fronts with overall correct conformation, and as carrying themselves in that special elastic and rhythmic manner.
