Retired to stud at Haras de Meautry, Normandy for a fee of FF45000. -His stud career was interrupted by the war, when the Germans took him to Graditz Stud. In 1944, Brantome was transferred to the Altefeld Stud in Thuringia. Sadly, Brantome was returned to France with an eye injury, and by 1950 was blind in one eye and suffering from a cataract.
