NOTE: There is an error in this pedigree. It says that FARIDA DABBANI was foaled in 1889 but her dam GAZZA wasn't born until 1895. The Al Khamsa database lists FARIDA DABBANI's birth year as 1880, making even more of a discrepancy. GAZZA (aka GHAZZA or GAZA) is listed in Al Khamsa as being foaled in 1995, and states, "Although Gazza is often spoken of as the dam of Farida Dabbani, a c1885 mare, the only official record is the Weil-Marbach Stud Book. Gazza was foaled about ten years after Farida Dabbani, so that is evidently not correct." Al Khamsa has no listing for a horse named GAYZA. A search for a mare foaled before 1900 whose name contains "GA" returned no feasible matches (other than GAZZA 1895). I suggest removing the link to FARIDA DABBANI's dam, just as the sire link was omitted because El Sennari is not feasible. ------- Straight Egyptian Strain: Dahmah Shahwaniyah Alternate spellings: Ferida Farida el Debbani Farida el Dabbani Ferida Debani bred In the Weil-Marbach Stud Book pedigree of Jasir (MNL), Farida Dabbani is shown as a white mare by El Sennari (KDV) out of Gazza (KDV), from Abbas Pasha. Archer, et al. [1978, p288] says Farida Dabbani was a daughter of "Gayza, an original Abbas Pasha mare," but does not give a reference for the statement. Because Abbas Pasha died in 1854, it is unlikely that Farida Dabbani was out of an Abbas Pasha mare. It is impossible for Farida Dabbani to be by El Sennari, since he was foaled considerably after she was [J&C, 3.11.1891]. Breeder: Ali Pasha Sherif, Egypt
