A founding sire of American Saddlebreds and Standardbreds. Foaled 1826, Duchess Co., N. Y., where he stood most of his time. Died in Vermont. Pedigree in Wallaces American Stud-Book [1867], vI, p983. dam a handsome blood-like bay mare owned by Azariah Arnold and represented to be by Imp. Paymaster, but towards the end of Mr. Arnold's life he said he did not know she was a Paymaster. (page 316 United States Trotting Association Register {Wallace's American Trotting Register}).
