CAPITOL I gr. H, HOLSTEINER, 1975
| Color: gr Height: 1.69 m
DE321210615475
*2.5.1975. Bred by Harm Thormählen, Langenhals, Germany. Died 10/1999.
While its recorded that Capitol’s sire Capitano is out of Retina x Corporal, there are doubts surfing about the pedigree. Capitano was grey who dominantly passed on his colour and is said to have produced only a few chestnuts. But homozygous greys *USUALLY* have 2 grey parents. USUALLY = MUST!!!
At the time in question, a young grey stallion, Vase’s son, Grand Vikar, brother of Folia, had been frolicking with Retina. If the suspicions are true, then Capitol would be the product of intensive in-breeding and Ramzes’ blood would be in his genes via Retina & Vase and a 3th time via his grand-sire.
EDIT THE EDITED: a homozygous grey (GG) can ONLY produce greys. So if Capitano produced a few chestnuts (ee) he can NEVER be homozygous GG. Corporal was bay (eA) so he couldn't pass a G or g allele. To be homozygous BOTH parents MUST be grey & pass on a G (not g). 2 greys can produce 50% heterozygous (Gg), 25% homozygous (GG) or 25% not grey (gg).
TO THE FORMER EDITOR: pls place correct info. Allele letter E/e stands for the 2 base colours black and chestnut, A/a stands for agouti.
