MHC #66
NOT the same horse as Copperbottom F.S., Saddlebred. That horse was a roan, a Canadian Pacer, imported from Canada to KY in about 1812. This horse is a sorrel Morgan, foaled 1809 in KY (some say Vermont). The Morgan Registry CD lists him as 'JEWETTS COPPERBOTTOM' with sire and dam unknown, and foaling date 1800. Sorrel, no markings.
Foaled 1809, Kentucky. br. by Isaac Johnson.
Fastest pacer of his day. Very strong build, broad chest, round barrel, short back, good neck & head, handsome appearance.
AMHR vI, p237.
