KATY DARLING b. M, STANDARDBRED, 1842
| Color: b Height: 15.1
Bay, 15.1. A gamy, wiry, highly bred mare, lame from a broken ankle, who still trotted 3 minutes. Owned by Lewis J. Sutton, Warwick, Orange County, NY. Katy Darling was bred to Hambletonian, who was then two years old, and September 22, 1852, she gave birth to a bay colt known in equine history as Alexanders Abdallah, AKA Edsalls Hambletonian. She had but one other foal, a chestnut colt by Hector. It was gelded and never emerged from obscurity. Katy Darlings blood was never traced, and the mare found a grave in Iowa. Pedigree from AMERICAN ROADSTERS & TROTTING HORSES, 1878.
