PAGETT ARABIAN . H, ARABIAN, 1697
| AKA Pagett Turk Correctly named Pagett Arabian by Prior. In Royal Studs, p. 81, Prior says: Lord Oxford also imported 2 Arabian horses from Turkey for his stud at Welbeck in 1711. The Pagett Arabian, extensively used at Welbeck, was sent from Constantinople by (William, 6th) Lord Pagett to the Duke of Newcastle in April 1703, and as was often the case with these early importations is called a Turk in books of reference, but was duly entered as an Arabian at the Welbeck Stud. Sired foals from 1705-12. His color was not recorded, but can't have been a chestnut. He sired bays from chestnut mares (two chestnuts bred to each other will always produce a chestnut). Could have been gray as he had gray offspring from unknown-colored mare.
