SBFAR*435
SBFAR*435 & 436 (double registration under the names Sherif and Scherif) Journal des Haras 1861: grey Arabian stallion by Maneki out of Djelfè, imported to France in 1850, sent to Abbeville, sent the very same year to Pau. Bought by M. du Pont in Aleppo for 20,500 piastres, from the Stud of Sherif-Bey and was very hard to get for the French missioners. Comments: a first class horse, remarkably strong and elegant, head had a magnificent expression, everything about him was showing first class Oriental blood. The most precious horse of the du Pont mission. In Abbeville was sadly bred to heavy bred mares, which would have better suited any other horse. At Pau sired many excelling foals most of them sent to the Cavalry Remount. Not a very generically dominant sire. Never affected to a proper Stud to perpetuate his precious blood.
