SMILING TOM gr. C, THOROUGHBRED, 1712c
| Color: gr
(GB), Gallant's
Sire Line Conyers Arabian. Bred at Hampton Court he covered at Burn Park near Beverley for a fee of two guineas. [[He sired Appleyard's Craftsman (gr c 1724), Appleyard's Favourite (gr c 1730) and Gallant's Young Smiling Tom (gr c 1724). The General Stud Book has confused his year of birth and pedigree with that of his son, Young Smiling Tom, who also ran as Gallant's Smiling Tom. https://bloodlines.net/highflyer/investigation6.htm]] ??? No pedigree of SMILING TOM (the older) in GSB; the problem between SMILING TOM, the older and the younger never clears up. The Turf Register, and Sportsman, and Breeder's Stud Book, 1803 (for 1763), Vol.1, ps.26/27 (SMILING TOM, *1724) reflects the information from the General Stud Book!
