The GSB calls him the best horse at Newmarket in Charles IIs reign. He was also the leading British-bred sire of the 17th century. He stood at stud at Helmsley, for several seasons, until Buckinghams death in 1687, then was owned by Mr. Pelham & re-named Pelhams Bay Arabian. He was still alive at least through 1691. http://www.bloodlines.net/TB/Summaries/DarcysYellowTurk.htm#Spanker
