not registered Varnish roan & blanket - white w/ black spots over body & hips AKA The Lamb Horse One of the most famous Palouse Country Appaloosa stallions. Owned by Guy Lamb. He was a blue roan with black spots and was clearly part draft. Knobby , known throughout the region as "the Lamb horse" . He was born in Winona in 1918 born on the Palouse River. According to Guy, his father was also Blue Roan. Most of his descendants were not registered as there was no register to record their lineage at the time. In his years as an older stallion he wintered at Lewiston. It was not uncommon for owners to find him in the midst of a herd of mares when a neighbor had downed the fence. http://thefab.homestead.com/files/history/TobyKnobby/p1.pdf
Knobby sired two superb mares in the Lewiston area who were later registered. One was Bonnie #F-434, the other was her half-sister Lucy #F-455, both born in 1941. Knobby was a tough performance horse and many horse breeders wanted him to cover their mares
