The Blue Line stallion, MARBLE (254) had two of the studbook’s outstanding mares in his pedigree: 1. Colie Griffin’s Windy (782), his paternal grand dam, &
2. Martin Mulkerrins’ Callowfeenish Dolly 2nd (1913) his dam.
Two of Marble’s sisters out of Callowfeenish Dolly 2nd - Atlantic Mist (2175) & Abbeyleix Delphinium (7908) - were Clifden champions. A brother - Abbeyleix Dolphin - was also a Clifden winner.
John Brennan bought MARBLE as a foal at Maam Cross fair in '66. He won the Clifden yearling colt class in '67 & 2yo in '68. He won the stallion class, both ridden classes & Confined championship in '73. He was paraded at the Equitana in Essen in '75 by Bord na gCapall.
Marble was sold to HB Nielsen of the Oxenholm stud in Denmark, and was champion of the first international show at Roskilde in ‘77. At Oxenholm he stood beside Cnoc Dabuidhe (606) & another John Brennan export Rory Rua (517). Unfortunately MARBLE died young, aged 15.
