Foaled c1710-12.
Was called "Old Smales", not "Snail", in early editions of the studbook, but he raced as "Snail" in 1718, and was always described as Snail in other pedigrees, so it was corrected in Vol.1 Ed.5.
He ran in 1718 for the Duke of Wharton without apparent success and he may have raced earlier for Mr Blacket. He sired Young Kitty Burdett (b f 1720), Milkmaid (b f 1720) and the 4th dam of Pharoah* (b c 1753 Chedworths Moses).
