Clemence was bought ~ 1799 by Graf Maltzahn von Plessen-Ivenack, Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany. Cannot be proven in English or German stud book, probably not a thoroughbred. Allgemeines Gestüt-Buch, 1847, Vol.1, p.376 (HYLO, by ANTEAUS - see in this database); Her sire served few mares besides Mr. Bethell's Stud; Mother unknown. She probably came to Germany while pregnant. Antaeus was never in Germany. Probably identical with CLEMENTINE, by Magnum Bonum, *~ 1795 (no dam note), dam 1806 in stud Rottmannshagen of Baron von Maltzahn, near Stavenhagen (Mecklenburg), closed down 1806 and was sold with many other dams and foals diverse age; CLEMENCE/CLEMENTINE no entry an any G.S.B.!; Magnum Bonum had only two fillies: *1784 BONITAS o.o. NUN (Sister to MORTONIA), and *1786 GREEN GAGE, o.o. EMPRESS; No foals after 1786; no other sire MAGNUM BONUM; was said to be sold 1785 to Russia, but that's not right: was sold to America; A very big Problem of the Ivenack-stud horses - cannot find in the G.S.B.!
