The first World Grand Champion. Bred by Edd Gilliam near Viola, TN. Owned by L.B Manning, Chicago, IL. Died April 23, 1957. Had a star, snip, and near hind sock. He went thru a series of owners including the Brassfield family near Coffee Co, TN, Ed Partin who sold him back to The Brassfields, who sold him to to Charlie Ramsey of Viola, TN, who sold him to Henry Davis and Floyd Carothers. Then sold to Col. C.H. Bacon of Loudon, TN. Strolling Jim won a dozen stakes classes by that time. He was then sold to L. B Manning in CA. Later purchased by Mrs Eleanor Graham, of Pittsburg, PA and then the horse was given to Mrs Olive Carothers (wife of deceased Floyd Carothers), who showed him in exhibitions. Member of the TWH Hall of Fame.
