Desertbred. Or.Ar. Aka Abu Heil, Abu-Hejl. Bred in Damascus, Syria
Abu-Hejl was a grey Seglawi Jedran bought in 1845 by Count Juliusz Dzieduszycki (for Jarczowce Stud) a few miles from Damascus and sold by him in 1853 to Prince Roman Sanguszko the Elder (Slawuta). He was acquired by Count Wladislaw Branicki for Bialocerkiew in 1858 but left no produce there. He was used at the stud until 1866. His dam was said to be descended directly from a mare belonging to the Prophet Mohammed and on his sire\'s side he was the half-brother to Batran-Aga.
