The Caletto II son Caretino belongs to the established circle of Holstein Association sires. He is one of the most mam facetted hereditary transmitters of his breed, delivering equally good dressage and show jumping horses of the very highest standards. This is reflected particularly well by his FN breeding value rating. He was initially ridden by Thomas Schöning in show jumping competitions and participated at the 1989 Federal Championships. He continued his career on the international stage for Denmark under Bo Kristoffersen and was ridden to further great successes by the Olympic champion Ludger Beerbaum in 1994. His dam-sire Fernando was approvals champion in Holstein and passed on correct body type to his offspring. Fernando presented two approved stallions, Fabio I and II, of whom the second-born also became approvals champion. The grandam is a daughter of the tough as nails thoroughbred Thuswin xx, who delivered top offspring mainly for show jumping and eventing. Inbreeding to the popular Consul is noteworthy here. Apart from Carnando, bloodline 2004 i.a. also brought forth the stallions Ratibor, Cromwell, Fähnrich, Lando, Lord's Highfly, Ariadus and Cyrano.
Carnando absolved his stallion performance test in performance class I in 1997. Then in 1998 he won conformation class competitions and aptitude classes and was highly placed in showjumper competitions. He also represented the Holstein Association at the Federal Championship of 1998. He has been promoted in dressage since 1999, attaining wins and high placements in dressage competitions at the elementary and intermediate levels. In 2000 he qualified for the Federal German Dressage Horse Championship.
Carnando has thus far presented convincing crops of foals. The foals are fancied because of their nobility, correctness and excellent quality of motions. His first crop resulted in one approved son in Hessia and Oldenburg respectively.
