Silver dilution is a gene that dilutes black pigmentation. Guthrie is a self-colored silver. Meaning his mane and tail are more the color of his body than silver. He was tested for silver dilution in November 2006 by UC Davis and does in fact carry a silver gene. First foal crop was in 2008. Champs Guthrie had 8 foals - 4 colts 4 fillies. 7 of the 8 foals are silver dilute!
