FARIDA DABBANI M, ARABIAN, 1880c
| Color: gr
EGYPT*215. Sheykh Obeyd. Strain: Dahmah Shahwaniyah. Alternate spellings: Ferida, Farida el Debbani, Farida el Dabbani and Ferida Debani
NOTES: The birthdate is an Al Khamsa estimate. The 1932 certified pedigree for *Nasr from Prince Mohamed Aly\\\'s Manial stud shows the dam of Dahman El Azrak as \\Ferida, Debani, (Dahma Chahouania), stud of Ali Pacha Cherif, Imported from Arabia.\\ Other references to the mare in the 1932 Babson and Brown pedigrees show her as from Ali Pasha Sharif\\\'s stud with no elaboration. The RAS History, in the pedigree on p12a, calls her a Dahmah Shahwaniyah from Ali Pasha Sharif\\\'s stud, and under Aroussa (MNL) on p126, says \\from horses of Ali Pasha Sharif\\\'s stable.\\ Lady Anne Blunt [1909 Sheykh Obeyd catalog, entry for Noma] describes Farida Dabbani as \\the white Dahmah Shahwanieh, property of Ahmed Bey Sennari, of the strain from Abbas Pasha\\\'s collection.\\
The Raswan Index quotes Lady Anne Blunt\\\'s information in entry #2711. No parents are given in this entry. In the Weil-Marbach Stud Book pedigree of Jasir (MNL), which appears to have some input from Raswan because of the spelling of the names, Farida Dabbani is shown as a white mare by El Sennari (KDV) out of Gazza (KDV), from Abbas Pasha. Archer, et al. [1978, p288] says Farida Dabbani was a daughter of \\Gayza, an original Abbas Pasha mare,\\ but does not give a reference for the statement. Because Abbas Pasha died in 1854, it is unlikely that Farida Dabbani was out of an Abbas Pasha mare. It is impossible for Farida Dabbani to be by El Sennari, since he was foaled considerably after she was [J&C, 3.11.1891].
Lady Anne Blunt [J&C, 2.22.1905] remembers that Farida Dabbani was taken at the death of Ahmed Bey Sennari (late 1893, according to Wilfrid Blunt [My Diaries, 12.5.1893]) by Prince Ahmad Pasha Kamal. Farida Dabbani\\\'s only foal in modern breeding is Dahman El Azrak (APK), bred by Prince Ahmed.
