Grandos passed his two year-old Hanoverian stallion inspections in Verden before being imported by Mrs. Margret Gafford. Upon his arrival at Sankt Georg Farm, he commenced his competition career and proved himself to be an even tempered, honest competitor. He was competed in-hand only once at the VADACC Richmond Breed Show in 1987 where he was first in-hand and under saddle for stallions and the Grand Champion of the show under the German Judge Herr Manfred Lopp. Grandos formed a memorable partnership with the late Mr. Shelton Gafford, competing at first through fourth levels with numerous wins and placings. Grandos finished out his competition career with Mrs. Gafford at Prix St. George. He earned his lifetime breeding approval in accordance with the German Oldenburg Verbands regulations through his dressage competition at Prix St. George.
