James RM, Jack Sprat, and Easter Parade were the outside stallions purchased by Charles Ayer of New Rochelle, NY and used at his Scenery Gulch Ranch fairly near Meeker, Colorado. Mr. Ayer was a Wall Street lawyer originally from California. He and his family spent the summers at their cabin on Trapper's Lake--fairly near Meeker. He put the ayr affix on his horses'names. James RM was very well bred. Quite a few Ayer mares were sold to E.W. Roberts of Califoria who, in turn, sold some of them to Morgan Horse Club President Ted Davis of Vermont. Liz Taylor was the daughter of an Ayer mare.
