There is a disagreement between the published Egyptian records and Carl Raswan concerning the pedigree of Mansour (RAS). The RAS History, the EAO Stud Books and the pedigree from Prince Mohamed Aly\'s stud at Manial for *Roda all show Gamil Manial (MNL) as sire and Nafaa El Saghira (APK) as dam. Carl Raswan, in Raswan Index entry #5956, shows Jamil (APS) as the sire. In this entry, Raswan states that Prince Mohamed Aly and Dr. Branch, Director of the RAS animal section, told him that Jamil had been bred to Nafa in 1920 and that in 1921 Nafa had produced Mansour. He further states that Prince Mohamed Aly and Prince Kamal al-Din had made every effort to breed Jamil to Nafa as neither horse had Mu\'niqi blood in its pedigree. Raswan\'s position on the breeding of Nafaa El Saghira is confusing; if one follows correction #1193, discussed under Nafaa El Saghira (APK), the argument of no Mu\'niqi in the mating which produced Mansour is no longer convincing. It might be noted that Carl Raswan died in October, 1966, just after the EAO stud book containing the pedigree of Nafaa El Saghira was published and prior to publication of the additions and corrections to the Raswan Index in 1967. Whether he might have clarified his position on Mansour had he lived longer is something we cannot now know. The official pedigree of Gamil Manial and Nafaa El Saghira is followed in the Pedigree Index.
