Peter Pan\\\'s versatility was his most outstanding characteristic. He was successful over long and short distances and could carry weight. His best race at 2 was the Hopeful, which he won by two-lengths while carrying 130 pounds.
In his best and final year of racing, Peter Pan won the 1 3/8-mile Belmont, the Standard, the Brooklyn Derby, the Tidal Stakes, and the 1 1/4 mile Advance Stakes.
The Brighton Handicap was Peter Pan\\\'s most dramatic race. He was badly bumped at the start but moved from the back of the field to win by a nose. A bowed tendon ended Peter Pan\\\'s racing career shortly thereafter.
After his racing career Peter Pan stood in Kentucky and France. He was then sold to H.P. Whitney for $38,000 and transferred to his New Jersey stud farm. Peter Pan sired 20% stakes winners, including Pennant, Black Toney, Tryster, Prudery and Vexatious.
Peter Pan was inducted in the Hall of Fame in 1956.
