Not sure what color she was -- registered as "dark cream" -- 'cream' was a common term for palominos at that time, but she couldn't be a palomino since she produced a bay foal by a chestnut sire. 'Cream' was also used for other kinds of dilutes such as champagne, but if she were a champagne, then one of her parents would be, too. If she were a buckskin, then her dam could have been a smoky black. Perhaps 'cream' was used for any yellow-bodied horse, and the "dark" was their way of saying she had black points.
