Passed to Duke of Marlborough, Blenheim Castle, England. Wallace's ATR, 1892, Vol. 10, page 235. After the death of the Duke, Mr. Arnoud Hendrik van Wickevoord Crommelin (Holland) bought the mare in 1893 from the estate. ALRUNA was the first horse of original standardbred in Holland. Mr. Crommelin let the mare trot in Germany with good results and a certain superiority. So he took her into breeding. Three trials with English Hackney stallions with good results. Then he paired ALRUNA with the American stallion ALLOUEZ,16656, by RED WILKES = FEDORA . The mare was not better as 2:30/mile, but she was superior to all other Dutch trotters. So Mr. Crommelin bought more American trotters to build up his standard breeding in Holland. Look at : www.archiefndr.nl/HtmlHistMensen/Wickevoort H.htm - with photographs. 14 foals.
