Journal des Haras 1861 : thought to be of the best oriental blood, he was a prepotent sire of the best build body. Recalled as a nice cavalry horse. He was one of the first sire used with success in Normandy, resulting in great demand for more Arabian blood in the Merlerault country. His pretty daughters were widely used as broodmares in Normandy and his sons were used as stallions in the whole French Studs, the best of them were Eclatant and his great-grandson Voltaire, but the sireline failed to provide purebreds
