BELLFOUNDER b. H, TROTTER, 1817

(GB), > USA, Boot's
imported into USA 1823 by James Boot, of Boston; The attempts to give the blood of this horse not been succsessful. He doubtless had some good blood, but whence itwas derived is unknown. He had a good open step as a trotter, and left many colts possessing the same qualities; but it is not believed that any of them attained speed without an infusion of Messenger blood. The story of his trotting in England seventeen and a-half miles in the hour ia altogether mythical. Wallace's ATR, 1871, Vol.1, p.75;
