Ben Dabout was extremely fast. He was owned by the Roberts' Monticello Drug Company and used as a cow pony and stud at Low Grant Ranch in Oak Hill Fla. At the age of 12, and ridden by a kid, Clifford (Ghee) McGhee, Ben beat over 40 cowponies including a known unbeaten race horse named Peanuts in a 1/4 mile beach race at Kissimee Fla. Ben was firey and threw his dark copper red color, blaze, size, and correct conformation on his many offspring.
