bred by Daniel Johns, Hightstown, New Jersey, was sold in 1863 to David Scott Quinton, Trenton, N.J., 1865 to Edward Perry, Bucks Co., PA: called him CONSCRIPT; came in 1874 to W.C. Norton, Hightstown, New Jersey/ only offspring till 1879. Axel von Chapeaurouge's book TRABERHENGST-REGISTER und STUTENLINIEN (most american standard horses and dams), 1928, Hamburg by Persiehl, p. 49, says the same, no registry for DUTCH JIM! It is very dubious...But Dr. Karl Julius Horn tell us in his book DIE ENTWICKLUNG DER TRABERZUCHT in Deutschland (printed by Reher, Berlin 1924), p.143: parenthood of BLACK DUTCHMAN and LADY. He also mentions the half-bred Arabian Grand Bashaw (OX) on both sides: his father's and his mother's. BLACK DUTCHMAN was 29 years of age, when he sired DUTCH JIM?, mysterious.
