Carna Surprise (181) was bred in England by Sir James Pitman who co-owned him with Pearl Lawson-Johnston. With C. Auratum being by the Arabian Naseel and Rockfield Girl's pedigree unknown he was not popular with breeders. The ECPS at this time wanted all ponies to have 75% of pure Connemara blood.Surprise's bay colour may not have helped his cause either. Still he had a good life at stud and won the stallion class at the Ponies of Britain Show in Ascot in 1965. Owner: Sir James Pitman & Hon. Pearl Lawson-Johnston, Melchbourne, Bedfordshire, UK Breeder: Sir James Pitman, London Markings: Near hind hoof partly white.
