Incorrect info taken from Battells register.: Seized in Canada during War of 1812. Pedigree untraced. Colonel Joseph Battell thought him to be by a son of Justin Morgan; others attribute him to Messenger. Figure was not standing at the right place or time to be the sire of this horse. Wallace was right, he was born near Philadelphia in 1802, not 1810, he is a son of Messenger, a English, that is, part Thoroughbred. This Engineer is a American Running Horse. See Kirsan American Running Horse 2023.
