Hertug was winner of the material test in dressage, and had a final placing of 2nd in the material test in Vilhelmsborg. During the test the character 34 were given for dressage ability. Hertug received five scores of 8 points, twenty-two scores of 9 points and seven scores of 10 points. In the training description they said: ”A stallion of good character, works well both outside and in indoor areas. The stallion has a good walk, and a supple and rhythmic trot and a good canter. At the Danish Warm blood stallion selection in Herning 1999 and 2000 Hertug won a place in the Premier ring (honoring the top 10) because of his correct conformation, expressive attitude and good movement. At the Danish Trakehner Association selection in November 1999 Hertug was named as a reserve stallion. Hertugs sire, elite stallion Schwadroneur, has put his stamp on Danish breeding. Since Dec. 31, 1998 he has sired 15 A-horses, 90 B-horses, 65 DH-mares, 2 gold, 9 silver and 7 bronze medal mares and 5 approved sons. His dam\\\\\\\'s sire, elite stallion Donauwind, was also a big producer of riding horses, medal mares and approved stallions. Among those Abdullah (Olympic gold, Los Angeles, 1984), Henkel (Hertug\\\\\\\'s dam\\\\\\\'s brother) and Dolomit. Gold medal mare Diana EDH 1827 is probably the best known among mares. Great-grand sire Bergsturm bred very few mares, however he produced several good horses, such as Hertug\\\\\\\'s grand-dam, silver medal mare Hertha EDH 1514, who has founded a mare heritage of her own in Denmark, with many good offspring in both sport and the Danish Trakehner breeding. Hertug comes from the best Trakehnner lines of mares in Denmark. His dam, Hellas RDH 1830 received as a 3 year old a silver medal, and 23 points plus a silver medal for breeding. She is also the sister of Henkel DH 286 and the dam of 3 top studbook mares. Honeur (brother to Hertug) was born in 1994 and was also selected to the stallion approval in Herning 1997 and is now owned and ridden by Jon D. Pedersen.
