Endurance Dam
Irple was a broodmare for Rushcreek Arabians in the Sandhills of Nebraska. Two of her sons were very successful endurance horses. Both of them were sired by Karlisle. Both were owned and ridden by Pat Fitzgerald of Nevada. Ken finished first in the Tevis Cup Ride in 1962 and 1963. However, in 1962, he was not awarded the Tevis Cup because he stepped on a nail after finishing the ride and passing the post-ride vet-check. The injury was discovered and treated, but Ken was limping the next day. The "Judges," not the "DVM Board," voted to award the Tevis Cup to the horse that finished 3rd. Quist placed second in the 1970 Tevis Cup behind his stable mate Witezarif. Ken and Quist won or did well in many other endurance rides.
