Before he came to Germany he was allways ridden at a trot, not driven, 1:32,9/ 1:28,2; won French Derby (Lisieux/Calvados); was bought by the French State Stud Administration (30.000 Frs.) for stud Saint-Lô (Haras national de Saint-Lô), because of his enormous achievements, tremendous stamina, enormous beauty and his correct structure. As a result of disputes, however, it was taken back by its previous owner (M. de Marcillac) and sold to Germany out of defiance, it is said.
